February 21, 2015: This is what Arnold Vinkeles says about RAY ALLEN:

I’ve been following Ray Allen’s musical activities for quite some years now. I really dig his approach of playing 50’s rock ‘n’ roll and rockabilly. If you listen to their up tempo rockers you can hear the rock virtually rollin’! Comparing to other present rockabilly combos here in Europe you hear more rock and less billy and that makes their sound so attractive for every true rockin’ and rollin’ 50’s cat. I would assert that Ray Allen’s music lays a bridge from the later rockabilly days to the rock ‘n’ roll years. The way this band interprets rock ‘n’ roll music is pure, honest and they possess a highly developed sense for that ultimate authentic late 50’s sound. See if I can make my words visible by bringing up their current release “Hurry Up”. This album presents a nice range of rockin’ styles. Going from classic rockabilly like their self penned bopper “Get A Crazy Feeling” or their version of Bobby Hicks “Juke Joint Rock” to some high energy rock ‘n’ roll jivers like the album’s title “Hurry Up” or “Rockin’ After Midnight”, both written by Mr. Allen himself. Hear them doing their interpretations of “School Of Rock ‘n’ Roll or Soda Pop Baby. You shall notice that they’re not dull copycatting but these folks took these songs and gave them a booster dose of amphetamine. Next to that it’s Mr. Dillards pounding piano playing style that gives the lot an extra drive. Another rockin’ jewel on this album is their arrangement of Charles Calhoun’s “Shake Rattle & Roll” sung by this great pumping pianist. The fact that this band comes with more than 1 gifted vocalist, gives them the opportunity to sing in close harmony which forms an excellent accentuated addendum to the high tempo guitar and piano sound on certain songs like for example the teen beat rocker TV Hop. Those voices harmonize as well especially in those mid tempo strollers “Oh! How Sweet” and “Share That We’re In Love”, again both own compositions. What can I say folks, get yourself a copy of “Hurry Up” It got released on Rhythm Bomb Records. Turn up the volume and show your neighbors that good music is still made by musicians who know how the handle an instrument. If the Ray Allen 4 hits your town or region don’t be a cube rube and use that opportunity to see them sharp looking cats rockin’ the house. You’ll find out that no matter if on a big stage or in a smaller club, Ray Allen & his band did internalize the true spirit of 50’s rock ‘n’ roll music. I can assure you seeing them live is the REAL DEAL!!!
